‘Gotham’ episode 15 preview: ‘The Scarecrow’ enters the picture … sort of

Gotham -It’s interesting that we just posted a “Gotham” article earlier talking about the potential arrival of the Joker later this season (see below), and now, we are getting set to talk about another key addition to the series: The Scarecrow, or at least the infamous villain’s father.

Next week is fittingly titled “The Scarecrow,” and the way you should really look at this is as an origin story of sorts for the character. Maybe it is similar to the Poison Ivy plot in that we’ll see the young version of Jonathan Crane at some point moving forward. We will just have to wait and see. For now, let’s just say to check out the official synopsis below:

“Gordon and Bullock set out to stop Gerald Crane, a biology teacher who has been harvesting the glands of his murder victims. Meanwhile, after finding herself in an unusual setting, Mooney continues plotting to gain power, and Falcone attempts to change Maroni’s plan for the Penguin. Then, Bruce takes a treacherous hike.”

We are very excited with what this story will bring to the table; while we are concerned about “Gotham” introducing a variety of different Batman villains too early, we do like the idea in the case where the Batman villain is still young. We don’t like the idea of imagining these characters as extremely old men by the time that Bruce Wayne rises to power. this is a very big gamble for the show to be taking, so we will just have to wait and see if this is a gamble that was ultimately worthwhile.
