Super Bowl XLIX: Katy Perry on Halftime Show, nerves, Russell Wilson
There are many things to look forward to during the Super Bowl XLIX telecast on Sunday night, but clearly the one that will snag plenty of attention is the Halftime Show featuring Katy Perry. She is one of the biggest pop stars on the entire planet, and during the NBC pre-show telecast, a previously recorded interview aired with her explaining how she is preparing for what will be quite possibly the most-watched performance of her entire career.
Perry of course stated that she is excited to go out and perform some of her hit songs ( and we are excited for it too), but she also admitted that trying to adjust a full concert into twelve minutes is no easy task:
“I have to do a concentrated version of the show … Of course [there’ll be nerves]. I’m human. If you don’t have words, you should be tested [to be a robot].”
Perry also said that she has struck up a friendship with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, as the two have a variety of things in common, including their love of pizza and also their work ethic to continue to strive to do the best.
We are interested to see how Katy fares tonight, since in theory, there are not many other people out there who seem more tailor-made for this event. The Super Bowl is all about a spectacle, and she has made a wonderful career out of knowing how to market her music and herself to a wide audience. We expect it to be fun, colorful, and a nice bit of escapism. It would be crazy to think that there would be any sort of dark or terrible controversy to come out of this.
