‘Call the Midwife’ season 4, episode 3 spoilers: Helen George teases arc for Trixie

“Call the Midwife” season 4 has certainly started off in a big way for Trixie, given that this character has already become engaged to Tom, and she is getting a chance to start to really plan and map out some of what her future is going to ultimately be.

With that being said, we should make it pretty clear that it is not like anything at all is necessarily set in stone at the moment. Many things could change with the character as the potential wedding nears, and she still could be struggling with some of her feelings and emotions as she watches so many of her friends start to move forward in their own lives. Speaking per the Radio Times, series star Helen George had the following to say in setting this story arc up:

“She’s definitely slightly turned into a Bridezilla but I think hopefully she’s looking forward to her future with Tom and then we’ll see what happens … It’s a really interesting year for her. It’s a sort of coming of age series for her. Her friends are moving on and looking at various different careers. Jenny’s left and Cynthia’s chosen the religious life so Trixie is feeling a little bit left behind.”

George also promises that we will find out more about the character’s past over the next six episodes, including where she comes from, and how she manages to keep that bubbly demeanor most of the time. With Jenny now gone from the series, we anticipate her being so much more of a focal point than she ever was before.
