‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 spoilers: Moving forward into ‘Them’

The Walking Dead -Come a week from Sunday, fans of “The Walking Dead” are going to have something that could feel at least to many fans like their version of the Super Bowl: The show’s midseason premiere on AMC. There is quite a bit to look forward to, but at the same time, it’s strange in how very little of it is concrete. What you are really anticipating more than anything else is possibility. While the show may be based on the comic books and there is that roadmap, there is a sense of ambiguity. Eugene is a liar. Beth is dead. Hope is lost. How does the group become accustomed to life on the road? Weill they stay together? So many questions, and so much time still.

We are coming to you right now with “Them,” which is the title for the second episode this year airing on February 16. We also have the official synopsis courtesy of AMC, but we would be lying here outright if we were to say that it was particular informative. As a matter of fact, there is very little that we can take from it (even if it is slightly more useful than the super-generic one-word title):

“The group feels beaten after living life on the road, but must continue to trudge along in spite of the changes they have incurred.”

As for who we are worried about the most, Daryl’s name has to rise to the top. We feel like Beth’s demise is a significant leap backwards for him in a variety of different ways. First and foremost, this ensures that someone he cares about deeply is not going to be a part of his life anymore, and that is tough for any person. Add to that the notion that she was one of the few people who he started to open up with; this could make him less likely to do so with others down the road.
