‘Ray Donovan’ season 3 spoilers: Katie Holmes joins series for major arc
Just in case you were starting to forget about “Ray Donovan,” or you have not really thought about it much at all, Showtime is making a major case today for why their series cannot be ignored. After all, they just confirmed that Katie Holmes will be joining the series in a major arc!
Much of the third season is going to revolve around Ian McShane’s character Andrew Fenney, a billionaire producer who determines he needs Ray’s help. Translation? He has probably done something terrible, since nobody ever calls up Ray when they are feeling pretty good about their achievements. Holmes is going to play the man’s daughter, a smart and savvy businesswoman named Paige. She is expected to recur heavily throughout the third season.
This shift to TV is a big coup for “Ray Donovan,” especially since Holmes brings not only a fan following, but also headlines. In an extremely competitive television market, this is not always the easiest thing to require. After all, there are so many options more often than not for what someone can watch, especially in the increasingly competitive summertime.
“Ray Donovan” is beginning production this winter in Los Angeles, and while there is no official premiere date just yet for season 3, you can expect it to be at some point in either June or early July, depending on when Showtime wants to premiere its new programming in the fall. While neither this show nor “Masters of Sex” completely kill it come awards season, the two are still very much considered contenders.
