Carrie Underwood recording special Super Bowl XLIX NBC performance
There are many things that NBC football telecasts are known for at this point, but one of them is the whole “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” opening. This has proceeded many of the network broadcasts to date, and in particular, Carrie Underwood is known for performing a pre-recorded version of the song every week. The only real difference is that sometimes, there are some different lyrics inserted here and there so that things make sense.
Well, it was announced on Monday that this time around, Carrie Underwood is going to record a very special edition of the theme song, and one featuring even more special lyrics, for Super Bowl XLIX between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. This really should not be a surprise to anyone, given that this is one of the biggest telecasts of the entire year and Carrie Underwood is such a huge presence. Of course NBC wants to go all out to make this special.
In a statement, Carrie had the following to say about working with the network to set the right tone:
“I’m so honored to again be a part of the Super Bowl, this time joining NBC Sports in helping kick everything off! I can’t wait to watch the game!”
Carrie is not the only performer currently tied to the game. After all, we know already that we are going to see plenty of Katy Perry advertised throughout the show, as she is performing a very lavish and extensive halftime show. Joining her at some point will be Lenny Kravitz, which should make matters all the more exciting since he is such a recluse and we rarely get to see much of him these days.
