2015 PGA Awards: ‘Orange Is the New Black,’ ‘Fargo,’ ‘The Voice’ ‘Tonight Show’ among winners
While tomorrow night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards may be the show that is generating the most attention right now, there was another awards show that also managed to get at least a little bit of attention tonight: The 2015 PGA Awards, which choose to honor some of the best in production across all things TV and film. With this being said, we’re only bringing up the TV winners here since CarterMatt is strictly a TV news site.
One thing we should mention here is that the window in which these nominations happen is very strange, and basically began back when “Breaking Bad” was still on the air (so it’s been a while!). This explains how this show could actually still somehow win an award at the show this year.
Best Drama Series – “Breaking Bad.” As we said, that totally happened.
Best Comedy Series – “Orange Is the New Black.” Could this be a sign of potential things to come?
Long-Form Television – “Fargo.” Basically, this term is the PGA word for miniseries / TV movie.
Best Non-Fiction Series – “Cosmos.” Once again, no surprise.
Best Competition Series – “The Voice.”
Best Live Entertainment / Talk Series – “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
In some ways, we can understand it if you said that the PGA chooses mostly predictable shows, but at the same time, it’s hard to argue with that many of the choices, save for maybe those of you who want to say that “Orange Is the New Black” is not a comedy (but that is an entirely separate can of worms that we really should not open right now.).
Anyway, we want to hear what you think about some of these particular nominees in the comments below!
