‘Britain’s Got Talent’ spoilers: Ant and Dec confirm golden buzzer return
While this may not be much of a surprise to anyone out there, we are pleased today to report some very good news coming out of “Britain’s Got Talent” tapings this year: The Golden Buzzer twist is yet again returning! We couldn’t be more thrilled about this, since it may be the greatest innovation ever introduced to the franchise.
For those who do not recall many details about the twist, it goes a little like this: There are going to be a variety of different acts who perform, but the ones that a particular judge really wants to save can be by the press of a Golden Buzzer. Only one act can be saved per judge, and hosts Ant and Dec also share a save. Last year, they used that to save comedian Toju, and you can see that play out in surprisingly-emotional fashion in the video below.
It was none other than the hosts that confirmed the joyous news in an interview with the Irish Examiner, where Dec in particular had the following to say about bringing this particular twist back to the series once again:
“Last year, we waited till the last session of the last day to push our golden buzzer. We weren’t getting caught out with that again so we pushed it in the first session of the first day.
“We’ve got that out of the way. But they’re a great act and we’ve got high hopes for them. It’s a really good level in Edinburgh and it’s Manchester next, so we’re very excited. We think it’s going to be another good year.”
We don’t blame them. Using the buzzer early allows them to not have to be in that awkward judge position, and they can sit back and just do their thing for the rest of the time.
