‘Downton Abbey’ season 5 Christmas Special spoilers: Elizabeth McGovern gives reason to breathe
Are you at all worried that some of your favorites are not going to make it out of the “Downton Abbey” Christmas Special alive? Well, here is a word to the wise: You really shouldn’t be.
While it may be possible that some actors could leave the show after this season, with Lily James (Rose) being at the top of the list, you can be rest assured right now that if any actor ends up going, it will not be due to their character being killed off in some stunning way.
This news was confirmed by none other than Elizabeth McGovern (Cora), who said the following in a chat with the Telegraph:
“I can say that there aren’t any sudden deaths.”
This news is in some ways really an echo of what we have heard from some other stars of the show over time, that there was no real intention to kill off any more memorable characters. Still, executive producer / writer Julian Fellowes was hesitant to confirm this as fact, more than likely because he wanted to preserve a certain element of surprise.
For us, it is not anything other than a relief now to know that no character is dying. Had there been someone to pass away, wouldn’t that have been a particularly sad way to close things off? Just ask fans of Dan Stevens (and his fans) about that.
