‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: Is a long-awaited hookup coming?

While “The Vampire Diaries” may be known first and foremost as a supernatural drama, there is no denying that this show also has a fair share of romance surrounding every scene. Heck, much of the first few seasons of the show was really all about Damon, Elena, and Stefan, and who she was going to choose.

Well, some of the dust has finally settled on this issue, but it does appear like some other development could be coming in the romance department soon. According to TV Guide, a “long-anticipated hookup” is going to be taking place within the first handful of peoples airing next year, and hopefully, fans will be very much pleased.

As for who is at the center of said hookup, it is not too hard to guess that Caroline may be involved. After all, Elena and Damon already have been together plenty of times, and Bonnie is still separated from everyone else. If it is Caroline and Stefan who do decide to take things to the next level, the big thing that has to be remembered here is that it is done respectfully, and without destroying anything that the two have already built.

While there is a part of us that does want to see the two remain just friends, mostly because there are so few of those sort of friendships out there on TV, there is also little denying that there is some serious chemistry here that could work in a romantic capacity. Plus, this wouldn’t just feel like a cheap pairing for shock value, either, when you remember all of the history that they share.
