‘Gotham’ episode 11 spoilers: Morena Baccarin teases Dr. Leslie Thompkins character
When “Gotham” returns next month to Fox, there are going to be many new storylines that unfold. One of the biggest ones revolves around that cliffhanger, which features the James Gordon character (Ben McKenzie) being sent over to Arkham Asylum.
Is life going to be pretty terrible for Gordon there? You have to count on it. There are extremely dangerous people present there. With that being said, he may also make a friend! Morena Baccarin (“Homeland,” “Firefly”) is set to recur as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, and she could be a very important person to many characters before the season comes to an end (at least based on her comic book ties).
There are going to be differences between her character on the show and the one in the comics, but speaking to TV Guide, she teases now some of what you can expect:
“She doesn’t fall into the corrupt Gotham world … She wants to make it a better place. [She and Gordon]have this immediate connection… based on just how insane everything is around them … It’s the beginning of a really great, great friendship.”
Baccarin was coy on if Thompkins and Gordon could become anything more than just good friends, but we know that he is at present single after Barbara took off and decided that she wanted to get back to her ex. Obviously, though, that story is also far from over.
There are still many mysteries left to explore on “Gotham,” and we just have to wait now to see how the story continues to unfold. Hopefully, more characters like Thompkins will surface who have comic ties, but are not going to really warp the Batman canon we know in terrible ways (like making Batman villains much older than Bruce Wayne).
