ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 winter finale spoilers: Nathan Fillion’s Rick becomes ‘honorary mobster’

Castle -

We come into Monday night’s winter finale for “Castle” feeling what we can probably describe best right now as mixed emotions. After all, this is a story that is going to feature the mob, and we have made it no secret over the years that we don’t have a whole lot of love in our heart for storylines themed around mobs. However, at the same time it’s a Christmas episode (which we always love), and it is a chance to see more of Castle’s past.

With that being said, we’re not sure that all of it when it comes to Nathan Fillion’s character is going to be something that Beckett is particularly fond of. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Rick somehow is going to find himself in the middle of a “mob war” during the episode, and at one point, he will even be proclaimed an “honorary mobster.”

Of course, the question that could be very easy to skirt over right now is this: What in the world is Castle doing around the mob anyway? It is definitely unusual for a mystery novelist to have any sort of connections to organized crime, so there should be some concerns over this storyline before it even airs.

If nothing else, we get the sense that it will be worth it, and there will be finally some further (and very welcome) information that gets us closer to resolving the mystery that has hovered over the show since that frustrating cliffhanger at the end of last season.

We’ll have more on this episode tomorrow, so be on the lookout!
