‘The Bachelor’ spotlight: Will Amanda Goerlitz dance away with Chris Soules’ heart?
Yesterday, we officially kicked off the “Bachelor” spotlight articles, which we are doing every day until the premiere, with a profile of the first woman in alphabetic order vying for Chris Soules’ affection.
You can read that full profile for Alissa over at this link; today, we are focusing on the next woman in Amanda Goerlitz, who we were able to find out at least a good bit about today. Note that we’re not using any spoilers in these profiles, nor do we know any. We are operating mostly on basic information we find online and the ABC biography on their website.
Age – 24
Hometown – Lake in the Hills, Illinois. We didn’t know much about this town, but it is a suburb of Chicago that exploded in popularity during the 1990s. It is still reasonably small.
Occupation – Ballet instructor. She actually has a BA in public relations, so she should be good at dealing with people.
Bio highlights – While it doesn’t say this in her bio, the ABC press release for this season teases that Amanda blindfolds Chris outside the limo, and then forces her to find her inside and see her for the first time. Not a good move in our eyes, since playing hard to get is hard when you have 29 other people.
Positives – She’s used to living in a reasonably small town, and in terms of her occupation, Amanda can really teach ballet anywhere that there is someone who wants to learn it. She seems to be interested in finding love, and with her specific skill set, she should be adept at knowing the right things to say at the right time. There is a part of this show that is strategic.
Negatives – Could Amanda come across as too orchestrated? We wonder, given that she does have an extensive pageant background, and that is all about putting on a presentation. There also is not a great precedent of pageant people doing well on this show, with many of them either talking about it too much, or not seeming to be interested enough in the guy.
Prediction – A part of us thinks that Amanda could be great for Chris, given that she is from a similar part of the country and shares some of his family values. We just see her as someone who could struggle with letting her guard down, and we’re going to side with history here and say that she won’t last beyond the first few weeks.
