‘True Detective’ season 2 spoilers: Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Reilly, more officially join
HBO has decided to finally go ahead and make it official: There are many names joining “True Detective” season 2 that you may have heard about long before now.
Before today, the only cast members who were on board officially were Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell, and they marked specifically the extent of the show’s risk-taking. Casting Vaughn to follow up on a show that recently had Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in excellent performances could either be really great, or be a complete disaster. We haven’t decided too much just yet.
Anyway, at least HBO gave us something to go along with the names mentioned below in the press release: We have some of the first real details about their roles to go along with them.
Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.
Taylor Kitsch as Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle officer for the California Highway Patrol, running from a difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened.
Kelly Reilly as Jordan, Frank Semyon’s (Vaughn’s) wife, a former D-list actress who is a full partner in his enterprises and ambitions.
The new season will be filmed in California, and is most likely going to be air at some point in the late summer / fall of next year. There has to be time to get this story together before it airs, and we are not quite sure the show has had enough of that yet.
