‘MasterChef Junior’ season 2, episode 2 preview: Joe Bastianich and a pancake fight
Anyone who watches the regular “MasterChef” probably knows Joe Bastianich in many ways to be the most terrifying judge. While Gordon Ramsay is often the biggest personality, he tends to be a little less of the plate-throwing, fish-smashing madman that he is on “Hell’s Kitchen.” Joe can take away your confidence with just a few words, especially if you are cooking with the wrong attitude. Basically, these are all the reasons why he’s a great judge, since if you genuinely impress him, you know you legitimately did a good job.
So to watch syrup get poured on his head on “MasterChef Junior” is basically night and day. In the preview video below, Joe specifically finds himself the target of a syrup attack, which comes at the end of some elaborate challenge involving cooking pancakes. Let it be known that these kids have already figured out how to make pancakes better than us, given that ours typically turn out to be giant, floppy, and extremely crumbly. No way they’d survive being stuck on Joe’s bald head.
If nothing else, Joe can at least celebrate one aspect of his baldness: It was probably a whole lot easier to clean up after this. Can you imagine how long it took Gordon Ramsay or Graham Elliott to fix themselves up for the rest of the competition? This is one of those things where we would constantly worry about smelling like breakfast for at least a week or two afterwards.
In addition to this pancake challenge, the junior cooks Tuesday night are also going to have the challenge of baking the ideal dessert, which is a real struggle when it comes to math and memorization.
