‘True Detective’ season 2 may not even premiere in summer 2015
One thing is certainly clear with the long that it is taking to prepare “True Detective” season 2: Unless creator Nic Pizzolatto has a way to slow down time like one of the meta-humans on “The Flash,” the show’s not premiering at the same time that the show did this year. The assumption has instead been that the show could start in the summer, possibly in the timeslot once occupied by “True Blood.”
Is that even in jeopardy at the moment? It’s possible. As Mashable notes, production has not officially started now that we know of, and it is starting to become very difficult to imagine that the show will be ready for this summer even if filming started right away. Personally, we’re not saying that it is beyond the realm of possibility, only because “True Blood” typically starts in December / January, and then premieres in the summer. It’s a little bit of a different beast, though, and has more traditional sets than “True Detective” does.
Personally, we feel like a time period for the show to launch could be in the fall, right around the time when “Boardwalk Empire” traditionally starts. This is a show that has such acclaim around it at this point that we cannot see it possibly being afraid of the NFL or any other competition. It’ll still get its ratings, and HBO doesn’t need everyone to watch live in the first place since they don’t have any ads.
The first order of business for this show really needs to be casting its female lead. Countless actresses have tried out for the part, but no casting has been confirmed as of yet.
Eventually, we’re going to have some further concrete news on the series, so stay tuned for more of that very soon! You can also sign up to get some always-true TV updates from us at CarterMatt via our official newsletter! (Photo: HBO)
