‘The Newsroom’ season 3: Thomas Sadoski lands latest post-show gig
While we eagerly await the season 3 premiere of “The Newsroom” on Sunday, November 9, we have been doing our part to recently share where you can expect some of the cast members to appear elsewhere in the future.
For example, Olivia Munn (Sloan) has been at work on “Ride Along 2,” and Jeff Daniels (Will) recently decided to join his latest big-screen effort. So what about Thomas Sadoski? As Don Keefer, Sadoski is probably one of the show’s unsung heroes, given that he isn’t always called to be the heroic guy. Yet, as we saw in the season 2 finale, he has a big heart and is capable of doing great things for the people he cares about.
According to a report from Deadline, Sadoski has signed on to appear in the eight-episode miniseries “The Slap” on NBC, which is about a series of events that follow a man slapping the misbehaving child of another couple. His character is Gary, a husband to Melissa George’s Rosie. He is the father of the character Hugo, who seems to be the child at the center of the incident. Gary, who is “somewhat of a hippy,” gets into a heated discussion with another character named Harry about preschool, and after some drinking, the slapping incident occurs.
We feel like NBC may be the right home for this project given what they did with “Parenthood” over the years, which took on a series of difficult family issues. Also, miniseries are becoming more of the norm right now in the wake of “True Detective” and other shows taking off. (Yet, “True Detective” submitted as a drama for the Emmys.)
One final interesting note about Sadoski’s upcoming projects: He has two movies coming up, per the site, in “Wild” and “Take Care,” and they are both set to be released on the same day in December 5.
