‘Masters of Sex’ season 3 spoilers: Will Beau Bridges, Sarah Silverman return?

Tonight, Showtime said goodbye to their critically-acclaimed series “Masters of Sex” for the time being, but it is pretty clear that there is certainly a whole lot more story to tell with Bill, Virginia, and just about everyone else on the show.

One of the unique problems that the writers do have for themselves right now, though, is simply the issue of having so many fantastic guest stars that they don’t quite know what to do with them all. One of the biggest surprises was seeing Barton turn up in the finale, and per TVLine, show creator Michelle Ashford claims that both he and Allison Janney will likely return, despite their busy schedules and other shows:

“We love them. And we’re committed to them. And they are committed to us. I would say it’s likely we’ll see them one way or another.”

Ashford feels the same way about Sarah Silverman, despite her very-busy schedule as a comic, and also Jocko Sims as Robert. His character really did a tremendous job of bringing Libby out of her shell this season; we spent a good bit of time and energy not caring about this character, but now, she is significantly more interesting.

Now, one of the other intriguing questions will be seeing what Bill and Virginia do with their work moving forward, just as we are equally curious with seeing how she plans to fight for her kids back. Out of everything in the finale, this is probably the one turn that we did not see coming the most.
