‘The Bridge’ season 2, episode 7 review: Hank’s best story yet; Sonya’s shock
It may have taken half of “The Bridge” season 2 for us to get where we really wanted when it comes to the story, but “Lamia” delivered. This was by far the strongest episode in the season, since it contained many valuable plot twists, and tied up stories that have long lingered.
For one, we finally started to figure out where in the world Charlotte fit in with everything. She started to finally realize how dangerous a position that she was when it comes to Fausto Galvan, who has become the Big Bad of sorts for season 2 at this point. She wants to sell him out, and it’s really her only option with the El Paso PD (now that Frye is done cocaine-dancing) breathing down her back alongside Fausto and Eleanor, who is starting to become a little less interesting, regrettably.
What was the most interesting theme of the entire episode, though, was consequence. Every action has one. Sonya learning that Jack Dobbs could have stopped his brother from doing unspeakable things is one, and her also finding out that Hank shot Jim in cold blood many years ago over what he did to Sonya’s sister is another. Police have a dark side, and they often let it out with the same motivations of revenge that we all have. These were some poignant reveals, and they each made a great bit of sense. Sonya’s spiral is a consequence of them.
Marco’s continued torment of Tate, meanwhile, has yet to really pay off, at least other than the haunting sight of seeing this man pose as a hero to children in his best visual moment of the season.
Meanwhile, the fate of two lie in the air right now: Tate, and also Adriana’s girlfriend Lucy, who was the consequence of her and Frye getting a little too close to the truth.
We hope that the rest of “The Bridge” continues to make this much sense; if it does, we really could be looking at a show that matches the greatness of season 1 and then some. Grade: A-.

I think Marco has accepted Tate’s fate, as shown in his decision to turn his seductress over in the car. Just as Galvan has said goodbye to Marco. I think, as far as EPPD is concerned, Robles will be Galvan’s fall guy, while Charlotte and the DEA come in the back door. I also still can’t shake Jack’s deeper involvement with Sonya/Jim. Tonight seemed too easy for Jack. Still the series best episode, but possibly too late to save renewal.
