‘Downton Abbey’ season 5: What star will be making (potentially musical) appearance on ABC?
One star of “Downton Abbey” is going to be crossing over to an American television show at some point early next year. Not only that, but they may be doing a little bit of singing to go along with it!
According to TVLine, Hugh Bonneville (Robert) has been tapped to guest-star on ABC’s upcoming fantasy musical “Galavant” in the role of Peter the Pillager, a pirate king who we presume may also have an ability to carry a tune. This just seems like a super-fun role, and basically the opposite of what Hugh does on the ITV series as an uptight, set-in-his-ways Earl who has to look after an estate in changing times.
“Galavant” is set to be a midseason replacement for another fantasy series on ABC in “Once Upon a Time,” and our personal expectations are very high for it. It features “Psych” alum Timothy Omundson in a high-profile role, and also is trying to at least do something different than anything else on TV. We admire the effort, and we hope that it pays off into something great. Not only that, but we also hope that they are somehow able to continue snagging so many interest guest stars to go along with it.
“Downton Abbey” is in the process right now of wrapping up filming for its fifth season in Great Britain. There is no premiere date set yet for ITV, but American viewers will be able to check out Robert and company when the show returns to the air in January.
