‘Nashville’ season 3 spoilers: Charles Esten, Chris Carmack to perform live in premiere
“Nashville” is one of those shows that is perpetually on the bubble, and therefore needs to come up with some interesting reasons from time to time for people to watch live. In this case, getting two of the cast members to perform live during the premiere may be a way to do just that.
Sources confirm that Charles Esten (who we still want to call Chip thanks to “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”) and Chris Carmack are each going to perform as their respective characters Deacon and Will during the upcoming third-season premiere of the show. This is a rather interesting twist, but also what we would consider to be a fun one. It’ll come right from the Bluebird Cafe set, and give these two actors a chance to do something a little bit different than what they’ve done so far.
The rest of the “Nashville” premiere has been filmed at this point, so there is really nothing else that this episode is waiting for other than these two performances. We can only imagine how this will be a particularly strange thing to pull off, given that you are juggling scripted and filmed content with a performance that is live, and there’s almost always a discernible difference between the two. Also, what if there is a mistake or a technical problem, and that’s not addressed in the rest of the episode? There’s a lot that can go potentially wrong here, even if we’re not trying to be intentionally negative about it.
What do you think about the idea, and even though this is clearly a gimmick, is it still a cool one to you? Let us know in the comments.
