‘Mad Men’ season 7: See Jon Hamm showcase ‘old TV gig’ with Jimmy Fallon
Did you know that Jon Hamm starred in a different TV series long before “Mad Men” helped his career take off? It was entitled “Palisades Park Pet Patrol,” and the story can almost be summed up there. Also, the pet patrol seems to be so bored that they spend the vast majority of their time eating and drinking stuff.
Oh, and of course this entire show is fake. Hamm appeared on Friday’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” and promptly took part in what has become one of Jimmy’s favorite long-running gags on the show. He teams up with someone else with a comic sensibility, and the two try to improv a scene from a fake show they did together with some sort of gimmick to it. This time around, the gimmick is eating random foot and spitting it at each other.
From one vantage point, this is incredibly hilarious. Jon has always been a funny guy, but he continues to impress us with just how willing he is to take part in silly stuff like this and everything that he has done on “Saturday Night Live” over the years. There is never any fear.
Also, we do have to put another reminder out there about how disgusting this really is. Who in their right mind actually thought that we needed something like this? With that being said, we’re pretty glad that we have it now anyway.
The reason for Hamm’s beard here is that “Mad Men” wrapped filming fairly recently on season 7, and given that he often has to shave multiple times in one day when playing Don Draper, he is happy during his months away from working to be able to actually live a little (and with facial hair to boot).
