‘Masters of Sex’ season 2, episode 3 preview: Bill and Virginia make small talk

Let it be known that while Bill and Victoria together may have their intense moments of passion on “Masters of Sex,” they also have their fair share of awkward moments.

There are at least a couple of moments within the sneak peek below from Sunday’s episode where the two try to talk about what most would consider to be “normal” subjects. Suffice it to say, they are far more adept at speaking about science than about why Michael Sheen’s character is in a bad mood.

Then again, we definitely understand some of his demeanor based on the new environment that he finds himself in. While Masters may now have the benefit of not having to deal with an university that wants to push him out, he now has a new poss who is trying to push his own agenda onto his study, and also a secretary who is excellent at reporting back thanks to her own relationship with him. It’s a different sort of oversight than what we are used to, and we’re sure that he would prefer to work independent.

Also, we imagine that doing a terrible thing like an affair takes a good bit of an emotional toll on him … at least in terms of his energy level. We’re still trying to assess just how much he really cares about hurting Libby. This episode Sunday should at least give us some answers, and inch us closer to the big time jump coming up during the season.
