‘The Amazing Race Canada 2’ episode 2 preview: Why are you switching Detours?
While there were some little bumps in the road here and there on the season 2 premiere of “The Amazing Race Canada” this past week, what we had overall was a heck of an entertaining hour with a fun cast, and some interesting locations that further cross the entire country.
Based on the promo that aired after the first episode (read our review for that here), we are assuming that the show is going to be staying put in British Columbia, even if they are traveling to a different part known more for its fishing and surfing.
In the end, what we have to preview right here is a case of one team breaking a common “Amazing Race Canada” rule: Switching Detours after starting one! As you can see in the clip over on the CTV website (provided that you are in Canada), bartenders / pals Ryan & Rob decide that they are no longer going to do the super-fishy choice, and will instead swap over to the other one. The funniest thing about this to us is that the two guys even say in the clip that they discussed all of this beforehand, and said that they were never going to switch out from one detour to the other on the race.
So why are they, and so many other teams in the past, going against their own better judgment? We like to imagine that a certain thing known as frustration eventually rears its head. You are extremely frustrated and exhausted after spending a ton of time filming, and you’re also paranoid about getting hung up on a task. Rather than switching detours, sometimes what you really should be doing is spending two or three minutes catching your breath and analyzing the situation. That can solve some of your problems, while you are going to get far behind trying to start another challenge completely from scratch.
