‘Broadchurch’ season 2 official for BBC America; David Tennant gets even busier
If you have been following the world of “Broadchurch” as of late, then you were probably very familiar already with the news that the show was coming back for a second season. Even still, the following may be music to you ears.
At the TCA Summer Press Tour today, BBC America confirmed that the second season of the popular drama featuring David Tennant will be coming to the network, though there is not a particular timetable given just yet.
To us, the biggest surprise in all of this is just that Tennant does not fall over somewhere with exhaustion. The former “Doctor Who” star has been very busy with both this show and its American version “Gracepoint,” which he also has a prominent role in. Sooner or later, you think that the man would get a little tired and want a break.
With this being said, we have a hard time imagining either one of these shows lasting forever. British series have a tendency to run for just a few seasons before calling it quits, and “Gracepoint” is at least being billed as a limited series. That doesn’t mean that it will stay one (just look at “True Detective” or “Resurrection” for more evidence of that), but this is at least in theory what it will be. Its future will depend mostly on whether or not it delivers a significant punch in the ratings.
This was just one of many announcements today for BBC America at the event, given that it was also confirmed that “Orphan Black” would be returning for a third season.
