‘The Bachelorette’: Andi Dorfman on emotions of that Eric Hill scene
If you were hoping that Andi Dorfman was going to publicly acknowledge whether or not she approved of ABC airing her and the other contestants’ immediate reaction to Eric Hill’s death on “The Bachelorette,” you are probably going to be disappointed right now. Andi has spoken out in the past against people associated with the franchise that (in her words) “bite the hand that feeds them,” so of course she is not going to put anyone on blast.
Instead, Andi decided to make her People Magazine blog for Monday’s episode mostly about the guys, and when it comes to the Eric crisis, she chose to keep it most about how much his family is suffering right now:
“The day I got back from Marcus’s hometown, we were all summoned to Chris Harrison’s house. None of us knew what was going on until we learned of the tragic passing of Eric. It was extremely hard to watch back. There are really no words to describe how we all felt that evening. It was devastatingly sad then, and months later we are all still grieving over this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with Eric’s family.”
We’re not going to fault Andi too much for not really addressing much of this head-on, given that to her this is not really about a television show and its edit as it was a journey for her to find the right person to be with. She has the field narrowed down to Chris Soules, Josh Murray, and Nick Viall, and only one of these guys will emerge as a potential fiance. We just have a few more weeks to go until we see the full story.
Chris Harrison took a more public stance on the Eric story earlier today, saying that the show did what he felt was right, and that not giving you raw emotions in a show that is about that would be doing you as a viewer a disservice.
