‘The Walking Dead’ season 5: AMC to air ‘Talking Dead’ special, documentary in July

Talking Dead -AMC apparently is not longer satisfied with just getting big ratings for “The Walking Dead” in the fall and the winter / spring; they are now working more than ever to give you a little bit of programming in the summer.

The network announced on Wednesday that on Sunday, July 6 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, there will be a “Talking Dead” preview special featuring some news on season 5 of the zombie drama, and also hopefully a first look at what lies ahead. Showrunner Scott M. Gimple will be one of the guests for the special along with comedienne Aisha Tyler. Chris Hardwick will of course be back as a host. One of the benefits for AMC scheduling this show is that it could give “Halt and Catch Fire,” the critically-acclaimed but low-rated drama, a chance to get some additional viewers.

In addition to this, AMC is also going to be bringing forward two special documentaries to give you an inside look at how the series is made.

  • “Inside the Walking Dead,” July 8 (Tuesday) at 10:00 – This will be a one-hour look at everything behind the scenes on the show. We wonder how this will be that different from a DVD extra, but we’re sure many will still watch it.
  • “Inside the Walking Dead: Walker University,” July 15 (Tuesday) at 10:00 – This is yet another documentary that is going to feel somewhat familiar, at least if you have seen some videos online. Still, the way that extras are cast and trained to be walkers on the show is somewhat interesting. If you are unfamiliar with the subject matter, this could be worthwhile viewing.
