‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: Could a ‘Vampire Diaries’ star really play Nightwing?

What we have for you here is a very fun story, even if it is also one that really screams “shenanigans” right now for a variety of reasons … even if it is fun. After all, who wouldn’t want to see some more great heroes in the world of “Arrow“?

Here is where the origins of this new story regarding Stephen R. McQueen potentially as Nightwing comes from: McQueen himself. Seriously. The “Vampire Diaries” actor has been campaigning to play this part for a long time, and he continued to keep it up recently. He recently shared a photo on Instagram of himself with Oliver Queen (a.k.a. Stephen Amell), and we sure to include the hashtag “#nightwing” in there just in case you were not serious already about his hopes.

Do we seriously see this gig happening? That is something that is a little difficult to answer right now, since we do not quite know what direction the story is going for season 3. However, it does feel reasonably unlikely if for no other reason than that the producers of the show have not brought on anyone in the “Batman” universe other than Harley Quinn, and she was just a tiny cameo. We suspect that with Fox having the brand-new series “Gotham” set in the famous city, it is going to be very hard to have some other characters on this show from that part of the DC universe. With all of that being said, though, “Gotham” is set far enough in the past that Nightwing may not even exist there yet.
