‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Andi Dorfman, Josh Murray, and another drunken suitor
What do you do with a drunken suitor? This is one of many questions that Monday night’s “The Bachelorette” will deal with at a date that in some ways feels somewhat hypocritical.
Do you remember all of that conversation about how Andi Dorfman wants to be “courted,” and how conservative she wants this season to be? This is a statement that is not entirely reflective on what she is going to making some of the guys do moving forward. There will be silly dancing, some objectification of the male body, and understandably some nervous guys. It’s not that far out of the realm of possibility that the show would make women on “The Bachelor” strip down and dance about, but it feels like there would be more people up in arms about it. Male body image isn’t something that is really brought up enough.
If there is a silver lining, it is that this group date seems to be for a good cause … even if one of the contestants gets drunk and Josh Murray is left trying to convince Andi that there is something more to him than what she has seen so far:
“The next day, 14 men join Andi at a hip Hollywood nightclub, but they are in for a big surprise when they are met by members of a popular male exotic revue, ‘Hollywood Men,’ who greet them with a racy performance that leaves everyone stunned. Andi reveals that this date is actually a special event for the charity ‘Bachelor Gives Back.’ The way they will raise funds will be to strip in front of a live audience. Andi divides the guys into fantasy themed groups for their routines, resulting in hilarious auditions, but two unlucky men have to perform solo. One nervous bachelor really feels the pressure, but will he fight through his anxiety to show Andi how committed he is – or just use the nearest exit? And another man relies too much on alcohol to get up his courage to take it all off. At the after party, Josh attempts to convince Andi he is more than a pretty face. But one man’s out of control antics threaten to ruin the party, leaving Andi to wonder whether all the men are really here for her. Will she hand out a rose or cancel the party?”
You can probably telegraph most of the events of this episode as following given some of the past “Bachelorette” / “Bachelor” traditions: Andi will probably send home the men who cause problems as some sort of statement that this should be taken seriously, and Josh is one of the contenders for the group date rose … at least for now.
