ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6, episode 21 review: Who is Castle’s Best Man?
On Monday night’s “Castle” episode “Law & Boarder,” we had what can basically be described as plenty of fun, and also extreme sports. The mystery here was pretty straightforward save for the subject matter: There was a body, a twist, and at least a few conspiracy theories dotted in here.
The more entertaining part of this hour to us was the battle between Ryan and Esposito to be the Best Man at the wedding. This was almost like “The Bachelor,” except sillier and filled with bribes. Ryan brought him recipes, Esposito buttered him up, and there was so much more funny stuff decorated in here throughout.
In the end, the choice of Best Man was appropriate, but also completely predictable and easily telegraphed from a mile away: Alexis. Castle’s daughter was the right choice for the role, given that she has been on this journey with him much longer than either Ryan or Esposito has. To us, the best part of this was seeing the looks on the guys’ faces when they learned the truth, especially after they went through everything to get him to make up his mind between them. (Having Lanie try to pick one by proxy was another great highlight in here.)
So another wedding loose end is tied up, and that’s the most important thing to take away from this episode. The fun of the story gives the grade a slight bump up, but we’d be lying if we said that the case was altogether memorable or entertaining beyond just what the theme of it was. Grade: B-.
