‘Survivor: Cagayan’ preview: Is a battle of the sexes forming?
While “Survivor: Cagayan” has been by some estimations a pretty brilliant season, there is one thing so far that the editors may have let us down with: Portraying the relationship between Tasha and Spencer as being closer than it actually may be. Jeremiah and many others have suggested that he was actually closer to Spencer, and there was a divide on the new Aparri tribe that was created during a swap. While Spencer and Tasha may be close, we don’t see this as a situation where the two are vowing to take one another two the end.
This is where the craziness from the preview video below for Wednesday’s episode comes firmly into play. In this, we learn that Kass, Tasha, Trish, and Jefra are considering making an all-women alliance, and then using this to get all the way to the end. Their first target? Tony, who almost everyone seems to want out of the game at this point.
The only thing that is now holding them back is the “most powerful idol ever,” as the CBS promo teases as though they never watched “Survivor: Cook Islands.” Tony can get himself a week of safety, and if this comes down to men vs. women and the women try to get rid of him, he can make sure one of them is gone. If we were in his shoes, we’d target Tasha almost right away thanks to her ability to win challenges and simply be a likable person in the game. Tony’s three biggest threats at the end game right now are her, Trish, and Spencer, and he may need to work with Spencer for a while. Spencer’s strategy for now may just be to find a way to stay alive, while Woo doesn’t really seem to care. He’ll just do whatever Tony says.
While we want to see the good characters last a while, ultimately we want chaos more than anything else. Since the promo below promises some of that, we have a reason to be very happy going into some of the final weeks of the season.
