‘Big Brother Canada 2’ review: What does Allison’s Secret Veto do?
Most of the time when you watch a “Big Brother Canada” viewer, you typically know what the houseguests are going to do. You know who won the challenges, who is on the block, and who is probably going home. There’s still great entertainment to come from the show, but it’s predictable.
What made Wednesday’s episode a little more interesting was seeing how Allison managed to find the Secret Veto in the house, and what this necklace actually does for a change. We’ve spent so much time questioning it, including whether or not Allison can nominate someone in her place if she uses it.
We saw the entire game revealed during the latter portion of the episode, where after a lengthy search, she managed to go completely undetected in finding a secret door. Here is the power of her Veto: It can be used after the regular Power of Veto, but it’s not so dramatic a shift in that she cannot nominate anyone in her place. She can basically think of it as an insurance policy, and maybe she’ll use it Thursday if she really wants to ensure her safety.
Let’s talk about that Power of Veto Competition for a minute. That History guy was probably thinking “what am I doing?” to himself while reading aloud his little taped bit about hunting for gold, and the challenge was straight-up “Big Brother” USA. Heather even got in on the act a little, except that rather than pulling a Jeff and trying to spell a fake word like “Technotronics,” she instead thought that the suffix “ful” had two Ls instead of one.
In the end, Allison doesn’t need to use her Veto. Sarah’s going to go home pending a miracle later tonight, and she may need it in the future to save a friend from being in danger. This entire Veto sequence was incredible to watch, and for that alone, this episode gets a high mark. Grade: A-.
