‘Survivor: Cagayan’ preview: Immunity idol insanity

Cagayan -You see, this is what happens when you hide a hidden immunity idol in the camp: All heck breaks loose. After all, this is not any ordinary “Survivor” immunity idol: This is an old-school one, similar to what Yul Kown used back in “Cook Islands” to win the game.

Let’s start off by saying this: “Survivor: Cagayan” has been an amazing season, and one that could go down as one of the best to ever air. Unfortunately, this is the one thing that could somehow manage to derail it completely. There was no need to bring back a broken twist, since it’s virtually impossible that whoever has this idol will go home before the final five or so when the idol turns to dust. It’s one of the few things that is guaranteed to be a two-episode move.

1. You have to Actually have the numbers to split the vote enough so that this person uses the idol, and then the next person goes home. For example, if the alliances stay aligned 6-4 and someone from the four finds this idol, you cannot get rid of them this week. You could seemingly get rid of it at 6-3, given that the 3-3-3 tie would force them to play it in the end, and the tiebreaker would give the other person targeted by the six the votes to go home. (That’s at least the way we envision it going.)

2. Therefore, the only time that you can get rid of this person is when the numbers are 6-2 and the idol is now burned. That means that if someone like Tasha, Spencer, or Morgan finds the idol, you’re stuck with them for at least three more tribal councils. That’s completely insane.

As for who ends up finding it, we’re for now going to go with someone like Spencer or Tony. One of them has already managed to find an idol, whereas the other has studied this game enough to know where they would be hidden. They are both quick enough and sneaky to look for it without a problem. They show Woo a ton in the promo below, but we don’t see it being very likely that he gets the necklace.
