‘Doctor Who’ season 8 spoilers: ‘Sherlock’s’ Mark Gatiss to write episodes
Just in case you wanted to see even more of a “Doctor Who” – “Sherlock” collision (or at least one that didn’t involve Benedict Cumberbatch and Peter Capaldi running into each other on the street), we have a feeling that this news is going to be very much right up your alley.
Per the Radio Times in the UK, Mark Gatiss, one of the masterminds / actors behind “Sherlock,” is going to return to “Doctor Who” as a writer and pen two scripts that will air during the eighth season. This is a duty that he has held on many occasions in the past, even going back to when David Tennant was The Doctor. He has also contributed at times as an actor on the series, so it’s fair to say that there is a familiarity with the source material there that goes so much deeper than just Steven Moffat.
With Gatiss on board, there is certainly even more of a reason than ever for longtime “Doctor Who” fans to breathe in and out that everything is going to still be great with the series. We like the infusion of new and old blood that is being poured into season 8 so far, honoring the past while making sure that this is a Doctor for our time that doesn’t feel quite like every other edition of the character. The series has been filming now for over two months, and will likely premiere in either late summer or early fall.
There have already been some prominent castings for the new season, and you can check some of them out over at the link here. Also, be sure to sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter if you want to get more news and updates on all we cover sent right to your email.

OK down to a possible of 3 months the way I see it August, September at latest maybe October….unless of course July counts as “late” summer….in that case I may be most excited over this. Can it be narrowed down a bit?
