‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Want to see all of your favorites in Lego form?
Well, the grand news now is that any and all conflicts to keep this from happening have now been revolved! The toy group announced recently that they have resolved a dispute regarding licensing for the show, and are now allowing the doors to be open for potential “Doctor Who” Lego products to be made through their Cuusoo creative branch:
“Sometimes we have to turn down project submissions that refer to specific brands or licensed properties … We do this to avoid getting your hopes up for something we know we aren’t able to make. In these cases, we already know the LEGO Group can’t secure licensing rights to produce construction toys based on a particular brand or property, due to a conflicting interest with a third party. If such a conflict goes away, we’ll then be able to accept projects based on a particular brand or license.”
Lo and behold, there is already a pitch out there for a line of “Doctor Who” Lego sets, which you can support here. (Update There’s also another project at this link.) The former includes figures of Daleks, many past Daleks, and a promise to donate 50% of the profits to charity. It already has more than 6,000 supporters, and once it reaches the 10,000 threshold, it will become viable as a potential product for Lego to produce.
