‘Bates Motel’ season 2 to receive ‘After Hours’ aftershow
The “shows” getting aftershows trend is continuing today, and this time around, we’re talking about a series that we’re not quite sure really needed an aftershow at all: “Bates Motel.”
This series is going to be entitled “Bates Motel: After Hours,” and will air starting on Monday, March 3 at 11:00 p.m. Eastern time . The guests for this first show are a number of important faces when it comes to the franchise: Stars Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore and Max Thieriot in addition to executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin. There is no word about a host for the show; while we really want to make a few Chris Hardwick jokes, we know that AMC would not be so kind about him doing another network’s ripoff of “Talking Dead” (which is the show that really started the craze, though it did already exist in a form with “Watch What Happens Live”).
In a sense, we do understand why A&E wants to go this route. After all, aftershows are an easy way to make money since there are very few production costs. Unfortunately, we also know at the same time that having a aftershow an hour after the show ends is not that great an idea, especially since this is not a ratings smash like “Breaking Bad” was. Also, who thinks that “Those Who Kill” could be getting a “Low Winter Sun” treatment here? This show got the shaft as it was forced down the throats of “Breaking Bad” fans that had to tune in to get previews. It didn’t work for “Low Winter Sun” and we worry the same thing will happen here.
What do you think about the idea of a “Bates Motel” aftershow, and do you think that this is something that we needed in any way at all? Share some of your thoughts with a comment, and also head on over to the link here if you do want to read some more news related to the show.
