‘Bates Motel’ season 2 spoilers: Series boss on possible body count, romance
We are only a little more than a month away from the return of “Bates Motel” to A&E, so what better time is there than now to start speculating about some of what you can expect?
The season ended last year with a pretty stunning revelation that Norman Bates may have started up his killing ways … with an emphasis on “may.” While the obvious indication was that he was the guilty party, there was never really any evidence of that happening. This is one of many questions that is to be answered, but while you may think that this one move was the A&E series opening the doors on all sorts of nasty violence, that may not necessarily be the case. As a matter of fact, executive producer Carlton Cuse tells Entertainment Weekly that in the end, there may not be anywhere near as many deaths this season as you would otherwise expect:
“The body count is not extraordinarily high. But there’s definitely some mayhem that goes on in the town of White Pine Bay. I think one of the things that really distinguishes our show there’s a lot of humor which is not true of a lot of shows that deal with serial killers. It’s more of a family thriller than a horror show. Season 2 is very character-originated. There’s lot of stories about Norman’s love life and Norma’s love life and we learn a lot more about the world of White Pine Bay.”
We have heard many times that there is going to be an uptick when it comes to Norma’s love life this go-around, but Norman? That is somewhat news to us … and something that will be interesting to watch unfold.
