ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6: What does the future look like for the show?
Anytime that you have a show that is in the sixth season, this is the time when you have to start thinking a little bit about its future. You are getting near the time where contracts have to be discussed, and also where the show starts to run a little bit out of steam.
Is this going to be the case for “Castle”? We still have to wait and see what happens, but based on the way in which ABC head Paul Lee discussed it at TCA earlier this weekend, there is probably not much of a reason to worry. Specifically, he mentioned that it is “one of the greatest” assets that the network still has. It is consistent in the 18-49 demographic almost regardless of the lead-in, and even though it may be behind “The Blacklist” on the night, nothing seems to ever really faze it.
For the time being, the best assumption to make here is that a season 7 will happen, and there is little reason to worry. This is around the time where there would need to be an announcement about a show ending if you were to close the door on the Richard Castle mystery, and still have time to craft a fitting send-off.
So how long will this story continue to be told beyond this? If the current story holds, then the season 7 premiere would be around the time you see the Castle / Beckett wedding. From there, you could start to move forward and figure out what other stories you want to tell. Theoretically, this is a show that could easily last for ten seasons. The question is just whether or not you want to do that, or see the actors go on to do some other things.

Don’t see Nathan Fillion wanting to go past 7 seasons. This is based on his answer about his future plans when questioned at a Canadian Comicon. HIs response included that he had a 7 yr contract, and that he wanted to do small projects after that. Without NF, the show is over.

Well I think season 7 or 8 should be enough, is really a good show but everything comes to an end.

Look at the other shows who’s still is going strong, inspite of both 10 and 15 years. it should be enough to mention Law and Order and the spinoff,or abc own Grey At.and many more.
With Castle I see no problem at for at least 10 season’s.
I agree with Teri, sign them all to new contracts, they are indeed such stellar actors, and both the cast and crew does a tremendous job,+ the writers manage to keep the good stories fresh, fun and light, even though the serious matter they address.

Castle for 10 Seasons. Sign everyone to new contracts that are worthy of their superior acting talents.
