‘Glee’ season 5, episode 8 preview: Jane Lynch introduces this ‘Christmas special’

Sue Sylvester -We have personally found the idea of a “Glee” Christmas special this year to be incredibly annoying, and by and large we still do. But, with that being said, we are at least slightly more interested based on the “introduction” to it below that will air during tonight’s new episode.

This entire episode is apparently meant to be somewhat postmodern, basically in that it never actually happened in the real timeline of the show. This was supposedly what they “originally” were planning on doing before Fox executives shut them down. As Lynch claims, there are some scenes in here that were still cut out, including Blaine’s obsession with yule logs, but it is still a special worth enjoying.

With all of this in mind, “Previously Unaired Christmas” is the most standalone hour of TV this show has ever made, and there is still a good chance it will be horrible. But, it could also have its fair share of funny moments. We just worry about whether or not some of the show’s younger fans are going to be confused by the fact that this episode never really happened in the “Glee” universe that we’ve been presented. It’s just more of an obvious way for them to sell some more Christmas music and help to monetize a show that is starting to fall apart in the ratings.

The funniest part of this entire video to us is merely the fact that for whatever reason, Jane is hanging up Christmas stockings for the likes of Melissa McCarthy and also the “Nurse Jackie” cast. Maybe there’s a reference here we are missing, but for now we just find it kind of random and hilarious.

We’ll have a full review of this episode tonight after it airs, regardless of whether or not it’s any good. If you’re excited for some more “Glee” coverage, then we have a pair of stories that could be worth checking out.

1. Some of the music to be featured in this episode.

2. A look at who from the show’s past is confirmed to be a part of the 100th episode airing next year.
