‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9, episode 7 review: Cobie Smulders’ Robin as Night Falcon
Did Lily find out Marshall’s secret on “How I Met Your Mother” season 9? Strangely, that seems to be secondary here to the arrival of a new character we instantly want to know more about: Night Falcon. Is this the producers paying homage to Cobie Smulders’ work in the Marvel universe? We have to think so, since it’s a little late for a random character to turn up in the final season of the show. But apparently, Robin has an alter ego that dresses in a purple leotard, and it almost reminds us of Green Man from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
We could sit here and complain that “No Questions Asked” was a pointless episode that gave us none of the Mother once again, and made very little progress towards the actual wedding of Barney and Robin, and this would be a valid complaint. However, at the same time we really can’t avoid everything that this episode did right, since it was more than entertaining in a number of different ways.
Just learning about all of the different ways in which these characters tried to use each other in order to ask for favors without judgement, and there were a number of good ones, including Ted previously getting locked in a street mailbox and Lily being tied up and tortured by her students. Both were good callbacks to the show’s past, from Ted’s desperation to find that perfect someone to Lily’s job that she previously hated.
But in the end, the important thing that came from “No Questions Asked” was that the truth did eventually come out when it comes to Marshall taking the job as a judge, and he decided to tell her simply because it was the right thing to do (and after Lily smashed her phone, Ted used up a favor that she owed him). Now as for what Lily is going to do to him next, it’s not going to be pretty. Let’s just say that Marshall is not going to be welcomed to the wedding weekend with open arms.
So this was a silly episode, but we laughed. Sometimes, you have to be okay with just that. Grade: B.

I thought it was creative but I wish they’d get to the mother. I am tired of being strung along. And those scenes with Ted and the emotional girl are really not cool.
