‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Mystery guest star lies ahead

Get ready -Over the years, “How I Met Your Mother” has welcomed its fair share of musical guests to try their hand at acting, whether you are talking about Carrie Underwood, Britney Spears, or Katy Perry. So is there someone else coming this season? According to one of the show’s executive producers, the answer to that question is a sure-fire yes!

In a post on Twitter, Craig Thomas confirmed that for the upcoming episode “Slapsgiving 3,” there is going to be a major musical guest star playing a part. This could mean that there is a guest from the music world, or someone who actually sings in a musical number. As for the title, you can imagine this being a major indicator of something that you have wanted to see ever since the end of last season: The grand conclusion for the slap bet that was forged over many months.

Based on all of the information that we know already about “How I Met Your Mother” and there ambitious ways, know this: If the show is going to find a way to conclude the slap bet, they are going to do it in a way that is as over-the-top and as exciting as humanly possible. Maybe Marshall rushes in from his season-long road trip with Sherri Shepherd’s Daphne, and finds a way to kick-start some elaborate musical number that ends with the slap heard all around the world. If this musical guest is here to perform a song all about this slap, it’d be perfect.

As for who our dream performer is, how about Robin Thicke? For one, he’s the sort of guy who Lily would go crazy over, just as she crushes over many a man with show-business ties. Also, he’s the son of former “How I Met Your Mother” guest star Alan Thicke, and maybe this gene for performing on the show really runs in the family.

Are there any guest stars in particular that you want to see appear on “How I Met Your Mother” season 9? Be sure to share some of your picks below! Meanwhile, click here if you’re interested in taking a look at what is coming up Monday night.
