‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 4: Showrunner to step down at season’s end

The latest -Here is what is definitely some surprising news coming in from the world of TNT: One of their most-popular shows in “Rizzoli & Isles”  is about to undergo some creative changes. Sources have confirmed now that Janet Tamaro, who served as the primary showrunner for the past four seasons of the hit series, is going to be stepping down at the end of the season in order to focus more on developing some future projects. She will stay on in a smaller role, and a new showrunner has yet to be named for the position.

Of course, the reaction to this would of course change rapidly depending on the reason behind it. If  we are looking at this from the standpoint of if Tamaro wanted to move on, then hats off to her. We just don’t understand why TNT would ever be happy with such an idea, given that this is at this point their most-watched show, and one that actually increased its numbers this summer when you factor in DVR ratings.

This has also been a pretty tumultuous summer for “Rizzoli & Isles” as a whole, especially when you think about the tragedy that took place weeks ago with the tragic death of Lee Thompson Young. His character will be written out of the show in a currently-unannounced way, and we will be seeing and hearing a little bit more about that in the coming months.

After airing its summer finale, the show is currently on hiatus until early next year, when the final four episodes will air. Season 5 will likely compose of the same sort of format, and will premiere in the summer of 2014.
