‘Glee’ season 5 song spoilers: Hear Darren Criss sing ‘All You Need is Love’
While there are still a number of other songs to come from the “Glee” season 5 premiere, we are pretty thrilled to share with you now the first one revealed for the show: “All You Need is Love,” a classic Beatles hit performed by Blaine (Darren Criss) during an integral moment in the episode.
If Blaine does in fact propose to Kurt, this is the sort of performance in which it could happen. It is big, dramatic, and also fun. Given everything that these two have been through over the past two-plus seasons, it certainly makes sense that this would be the sort of thing that Blaine would want to use in order to celebrate their relationship. While we do want to see the pair back together, we have a hard time sitting here and saying that we actually want to see them as an engaged couple right now. It just seems like too big of a stretch that they would go from not being together to suddenly engaged, especially since there is still distance between them and a history of trust breaking down.
The performance itself is pretty solid, but we think that this is probably one that benefits more than some of the others do from actually being performed on the show. We also get the complaints that Criss seems to get more solos than the majority of the other series regulars save for Lea Michele, but we also think that there is a reason for that in some ways: He has a very commercial voice that works with a large variety of songs, and he is super-important to the story right now.

Darren Criss gets all the leads, because he’s by far the most talented person on Glee. You can’t not watch him when he’s on screen. He’s the reason most of us Gleeks watch the show. He’s going insanely talented!

Season 4 ended after Regionals and season 5 is picking up (2nd episode-prom) near the end of the school year. I think Glee is jumping from point A to point C. They do it all the time – mess with the time line. I would like to see Blaine and Kurt back together, engaged? I am okay with it as long as it is a long engagement and the relationship has its up and down before they say I do. I believe Ryan Murphy tweeted that Kurt would be 21 when he got married. I would think Kurt is 19 going on 20 and that a wedding would be at least a TV season away.
