‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: ‘Switched at Birth’ guest to play new Cheerio

The wait begins -Is there a requirement somewhere on “Glee” that there has to be one mean member of the cheerleading team every year? We are starting to feel that way based on the latest casting.

First, we had Dianna Agron’s Quinn who has since been mostly phased out from the show as the actress looks to take on some more movie roles. Then, we had Becca Tobin’s Kitty this past year. While she is still around, there was a feeling near the end that being in New Directions had softened up her core a little bit, and she was no longer the same mean girl who tortured almost anyone and everyone.

Now, Deadline reports that Erinn Westbrook, whose credits include guest spots on “Switched at Birth” as well as “Twisted” (making her an ABC Family favorite) has been booked for the recurring role of Bree, who is a mean girl and a member of the squad now coached by Roz Washington. Unfortunately, that is all that is really known about her right now.

As for who is going to end up being tormented this season by her, we imagine that Kitty would be an interesting target. After being the bully for so long, it would be interesting to see her suddenly become the person getting some verbal abuse. Since Tobin is now a series regular, we would not be too shocked to see some more significant stories flung in her direction the rest of the year.
