‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Supernatural’ guest to charm Ariel as Prince Eric

Ariel now has her Prince on “Once Upon a Time” season 3, and this is someone that some genre fans know from an appearance earlier this year.

According to TVLine, recent “Supernatural” guest star Gil McKinney is going to be on board the ABC drama, and in the recurring role here as Prince Eric. Not much is really known about how this prince differs from the one that we’ve seen in other “Little Mermaid” iterations over the years, but we assume that it is going to be a little bit different than what you have seen in recent years. Given that JoAnna Garcia is 34 years old, we’re expecting a more grown-up version of the role rather than just a young mermaid rebelling somewhat against her father’s wishes.

The report claims that we are going to meet Ariel in the show’s sixth episode of the season as the characters arrive at Neverland, and they have an opportunity to spend a little bit of time with her. There is going to be one face among the gang who she recognizes almost immediately, and judging from a line back during season 1, we have to imagine it to be none other than Lana Parrilla’s own “evil queen” otherwise known as Regina.

Eric will first show up in the same episode, but whether or not he appears during flashbacks or the present-day action of the show is still to be seen. On “Supernatural,” McKinney played the part of Sam and Dean’s paternal grandfather earlier this year in an episode that helped to show us all about the Men of Letters.
