‘Survivor: Blood vs. Water’ castaway spotlight: Candice Cody
Jeff Probst has admitted at times that when it comes to casting for a show like “Survivor,” it is always significantly harder to try to find some strong female characters than it is the men. We don’t completely agree with that, but we do believe that women are sometimes a little more subtle with their gameplay … with Candice Cody being one exception to the rule. What makes her notable is that in her two appearances on the show in the past, she has tried to make some pretty big moves. While neither really worked out for her at all (and we don’t know why mutinying made her a “hero” in the first place), we’re probably a little more excited to see her back on the show than most since she does have a mind for the game.
Before we get to actually profiling Candice, take a look here at the interesting story about how she was brought on the show in the first place. The major thing to note here is simple: She was flown out with her husband John at the last second.
Basic details – Candice Cody (formerly Candice Woodcock), 30 years old from Washington DC; here with husband John
Occupation – Physician
Claim to Fame – Being involved in Billy Garcia’s “I love you” situation, the Mutiny in “Survivor: Cook Islands,” or turning on some of her former tribe members on “Heroes vs. Villains.” She disappears at times during the game, but then emerges again later in an effort to try and make some big moves.
Strengths – Clearly, she’s very smart, and being a physician pretty well suggests that she’s not here for the money. She is a pretty strong physical competitor with a social game, and to us she almost feels like one of those people that almost makes no sense to take out early in a season. You know that she is going to be an asset, with the only exception being if she is so against your alliance that she is hurting you.
Weaknesses – The biggest one with Candice is that we at times feel like she has some sort of ticking clock in her head to make a big move and prove herself, and sometimes she doesn’t need to. A great comparison here is Daniele Donato during “Big Brother 13.” She has made both of her big moves a little early, and made herself a target when she did not need to.
Prediction – The irony with Candice is that she has placed in the same position both times that she has been on “Survivor”: The 13th person out of the game and the 5th member of the jury. Honestly, we would not be shocked if she is in the same place again. We don’t see her being an early boot, and we think that she will get a little too impatient in the game or like Andrea last season, she will not contain herself well after the jury.
