‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 video: Ian Somerhalder’s Damon hates the word doppelganger

For fans of “The Vampire Diaries,” the wait is over … at least when it comes to seeing the first promo of the new season. The folks over at The CW have been kind enough now to at least lift the veil on some of what is coming up for the show, and there is quite a bit to look forward to.

However, this is hardly going to be much of a good time for a certain vampire played by Paul Wesley in Stefan. As the video below makes it clear, he’s going to be suffering mightily while Silas is wandering around, successfully trying to convince everyone that he is really a member of the Salvatore clan. At first, this may work out, but things are going to get pretty messy, very fast. Just based on the quip from Damon at the end of the video about needing to learn how to spell doppelganger, it’s probably fair to say that he and some other characters are going to be figuring out the answer to this mystery soon enough.

Also in this promo, Ian Somerhalder’s character has some interactions with a surprising person played by Nina Dobrev in Katherine. We know already that there is going to be some drama that plays out as a result of Damon letting Katherine shack up with him in the summer, and we can’t wait to see the drama that comes out of Elena when she learns about this.
