‘Glee’ season 5 spoilers: Demi Lovato will perform with Adam Lambert, film with Lea Michele

Glee -Glee” is going to be dealing with some tragedy early this year, but it also turns out that they are going to be dealing with some big-name guest stars, as well.

You’ve probably already heard the news about Adam Lambert joining the cast for a multi-episode arc this fall, with Chris Colfer teasing recently that he will play some sort of “nemesis” to Kurt. Now, TVLine is reporting that Demi Lovato will appear in at least six episodes, starting with the October 3 installment, in the role of Dani. She is an artist type who will become a friend to Rachel (Lea Michele) and Santana (Naya Rivera) in New York City, and she also will spend a lot of time working with Adam. Can you envision musical performances happening here? Well, the report notes that your dreams are going to become reality.

For Lovato, this marks her first acting gig since leaving the Disney Channel’s “Sonny with a Chance” following a stint in treatment, and her other major network acting credit prior to this point was an appearance on “Grey’s Anatomy.” This also marks a prime cross-promotional opportunity for Fox with “Glee” and “The X Factor” working to support each other, but given that Demi is talented in both fields, it doesn’t feel like a gimmick. (We wondered for a time if Adam was going to do the same with “American Idol” and “Glee,” but it feels now that he is unlikely to land a spot as judge on that show.)

The new season of “Glee’ premieres on Fox September 26, two weeks after the return of “The X Factor.” If you want to read more about both Lea and Chris in relation to the show, we have that news for you here.
