‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Muse Watson to return as Mike Franks

More news -You better prepare for an “NCIS” flashback coming up very soon! Based on the news coming out today, Muse Watson is going to be returning for another episode as the popular character of Mike Franks, Gibbs’ one-time mentor and partner. So how do we know it’s a flashback? Well (spoiler alert from a few seasons ago) … because he’s dead, but you probably knew that if you are reading this article.

This news was confirmed in a post on Twitter by Watson himself, who chose to rather boisterously announce his return with the following message:

“Throw this back on your Thursday! Mike Franks is back! New Episode starts filming next week. Polish your boots, Probie.”

Watson’s return continues what is a wave of casting for the show, which is in the middle of a transition period following the exit of Cote de Pablo after the first two episodes. Producers are already casting her successor, but for the writers this season, some of the challenge could be coming up with some interesting character-driven stories to fill the gap. The exciting part of this could mean an opportunity to do something very new, and try a number of different things to figure out what works. Some of the best TV creations can come out of uncertainty, since it forces creative types to think on their toes.

The new season of “NCIS” premieres on Tuesday, September 24, and based on where the show is in production right now, we figure it unlikely that Watson will be appearing in the first couple of episodes of the season. Expect his installment to air at some point in October.

Are you exciting to see him back on the show? As always, we want to hear some of your thoughts with a comment!
