‘The X Factor’ UK: Gary Barlow smiles in promo for new season

The moment that so many of you have been waiting for is just about here … even though ITV has still strangely not released a premiere date for it just yet. The latest season of “The X Factor” UK will be here in just a matter of weeks at this point, and the new promo below gives us a sense as to what the producers have planned.

Luckily, it’s good news. While they could have made the promo a series of highlights with Nicole Scherzinger saying wacky things or Gary Barlow giving some of his pointed criticism, the judges are relegated to the tail end of the video. Instead, this promo actually seems to be about talent, and the dream that comes along with being on a show like this. You have a young woman doing laundry in the backyard, and simply singing thanks to her love of it.

Then, this turns into somewhat of a spectacle. Everyone gathers in an effort to see what this potential next big artist is up to, and the singer ends up on the audition stage trying to impress the panel. It’s a simple, effective spot for a titan of the show, but one that needs to remind everyone at this time that the search is really for the next big star, and not for what the next crazy thing that the judges are going to say. This is one of many reasons, after all, that we’ve seen the various coaches on “The Voice” over the years have trouble launching a big name.
